Our ancestors left behind for us paintings on the walls of the caves they lived in. The urge to leave behind a mark, a visual record, is as primal and necessary for us as gathering food and nesting. It is just as necessary to share this record, and to partake of the records left behind by others. Now, our caves are digital, confined to masses of spinning plates and copper and fiber, hidden under the velt in air conditioned server rooms. Generations to come will both revere and be baffled by our current choice of technology. Imagine the life of a pixel a hundred years from now - our Internet will be as quaint and useful as the stereopticon. Will Flash still be the most embedded media player? I'm just a worker, using the tools at my disposal. Thank you for letting me share my record with you. |
